His earliest memory of photography was the smell of burnt magnesium filaments wafting from the flashcubes of Kodak Instamatic cameras. Since then, Mervin always incorporates a sense of touch and scent as part of the visual cache of an image. Shooting under the auspices of Aperture Ink, Mervin has photographed for Miele, Nokia, Motorola, Seven for all Mankind, Anne Fontaine, and Vacheron Constantin.
