Resource Magazine features John Delaney
New
York, NY (February 3, 2009). The Farmani Gallery and The International
Photography Awards are proud to present the first solo exhibit from the
winner of the 2008 IPA Discovery of the Year competition - John P.
Delaney.
As an ongoing media contributor, Resource Magazine will
feature Delaney’s award-winning series in its Spring Issue, available
April 4, 2009. Resource Magazine is committed to connecting the photo
production industry by sharing news, interviews, photographs, events
and focusing on subjects geared to this vibrant industry. Farmani
Gallery and IPA is delighted to have its participation for this exhibit.
Delaney’s
series titled “Golden Eagle Hunters of Mongolia” garnered him one of
IPA’s most coveted awards. An esteemed panel of judges chose his work
from nearly 22,000 submissions spanning 124 different countries. And
although he competed in the non-professional photography category,
Delaney is no novice in the world of photography, himself being a
Master Printer working closely with such eminent photographers such as
Bruce Davidson, Richard Avedon, Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Klein,
Annie Leibovitz and Irving Penn.
With the “Golden Eagle Hunters
of Mongolia” Delaney presents a rich and beautiful collection of
portraits and landscapes that capture an intimate glimpse of the
ancient way of life for the nomadic Kazakh tribe, who date farther back
than the 15th century and are once again in danger of being eradicated.
Delaney has painstakingly hand-printed this series of large format
black and white prints to convey the pride and nobility of these
legendary horsemen and to document the vast beauty of Mongolia. “The
nomads warmly welcomed me and to them I am grateful. I am also honored
to have observed their way of life in such an intimate and personal
manner and hope my images do their traditions justice,” says Mr.
Delaney.
The Farmani Gallery is delighted to collaborate with
the International Photography Awards and is honored to present this
captivating collection of works from photographer and Master Printer
John Delaney.
The Farmani Gallery was established in 2003 and
our mission is to discover and promote emerging artists among the
contemporary photography genre.
