Dripbook made a Facebook Application.

Before you begin, be sure to become a fan of Dripbook on Facebook.

Dripbook's Facebook Application allows you to display your public books on Dripbook in your Facebook profile in a few different ways. It's easy and quick.

Dripbook's Facebook Applicaiton can be found here.

Once you install the application, you'll see a screen a lot like this:

If you'd like, you can enter your Dripbook account information so that the Application displays your personal work. Otherwise, the Application will show books from the homepage.

Choose whether you'd like to show your books in a new Dripbook Tab, or whether you'd like to show them in your Info section, or whether you'd like to show them on your Wall. You can do all three if you wanna be greedy. Don't worry, we're greedy, too.

Here's how the Dripbook Tab looks:

Pretty fresh. Keep in mind that Dripbook's Facebook Application is brand new. Report any bugs to us and please be understanding as we iron everything out.

And, lastly, the Applicaiton only works for the "new" Facebook layout. So if you're stayin' old school for the time being, you'll have to wait until Facebook forces you into their modern age.

So we have released the new About Dripbook pages. After all this time it's probably a good idea that we explain ourselves.

Have a look through it all. You may stumple upon someething helpful, or fun. Or both.

The Home and Browse pages had a baby, and it looks good.

Check out Dripbook's new Home page designs and functions. We've combined the Browse and the Home pages together. They're all one now. So head Home to see the Browse pages.

To the right of the screen, look for the three viewing modes of the new browse functions: Small Grid, Large Grid, and Map.

The Map icon brings up a split screen world map. Choose any location and any genre and browse the results in the 4-up grid of artists. Pretty amazing, actually. Great for finding what you need. And great for others finding you. So make sure your map point is accurately placed in your Controls > Settings > Location.

Within the Small Grid and Large Grid views, viewers can specify whether to browse artists or books.

We hope you all like the changes. We think the added functionality will really help viewers find what they are looking for, including you.

New book functions.

So there is a new menu to the lower-right of the screen while viewing books on Dripbook:

New / Modified Functions:

Slide Show: Displays the current book as a slide show. Sit back and relax.

Comments: Dripbook now allows commenting on private books as well as public books. Send a private book to others for review, and each recipient of the private book can give feedback. We even include the image names so that the recipient can comment on specific images. Great for sending images to editors, clients, and collaborators for review. Don't worry - private books and comments on private books are not displayed to the public.

Share: Viewers who are not logged-in can bookmark books to Del.icio.us, Digg, Furl, Yahoo, Google, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, and Ma.gnolia. Viewers can also get the URL of each book. Viewers who are logged in to Dripbook can do both of these as well as email a book to others. All of this is to help spread and cross-promote books on Dripbook.

Send a Message: Dripbook now allows viewers without accounts to send you anonymous messages. We are doing this so that those without accounts on Dripbook (like potential clients) can contact you. In order to prevent spamming, we limit messages to 200 characters and we do not allow HTML in these anonymous messages. If you do not wish to receive these anonymous messages, you can head to your account Settings and change your preferences.

Okay. We try not to do this too much, but we're going to ask you to read all of this. We'll keep it short. We don't like reading, either.

The big news is that in about four weeks, we will be "launching" the non-Beta, version 1, real-deal of Dripbook.

What does this mean?
For the past year, we have had the "Beta" tag under our name in the logo. That means that we are in a testing phase. We are seeing what works, and what doesn't.

What works is this: giving our worldwide network of professional visual artists the easiest, most stylish way to display, promote and distribute their portfolios online. What also works is enabling our artists to export their work out of Dripbook for promotion beyond our Web site. Another thing that works is indexing all of the thousands of books of all of the artists on Dripbook to allow clients and collaborators alike to find your work.

Since all that works well, we're going to focus on continuing and improving all of those basic functions of Dripbook.

OK, and…?
Dripbook has drastically increased and improved our features and services since we started in June of last year, especially the very popular Dripbook Sites feature. So, in appreciation of your help and support during our first year of operation, we want to thank you properly, where it counts most (your wallet).

Dripbook is freezing the rates for all our Beta members (this means you) for LIFE. That means that whatever service level you are at now, you can keep, at the price you are currently paying. When our new rates come into effect on July 1st, you won’t have to pay any more.

So now that we have your attention, please check below for important information for current Dripbook members to be sure you don’t miss any opportunities or deadlines for changes to your account.

We will freeze the prices you pay and you will have a Premium account at the current lower prices (a 50% savings over the future prices) for life.

Making the good better. Improving Dripbook Sites.

We've made improvements to the Dripbook Sites feature based on a lot of good feedback.

1) You can now upload a custom logo in place of your name.

2) You can now put a link to an external site directly into the navigation menu.

3) You can now turn off the drop shadow.

4) You can now upload a custom background.

5) You can now track your traffic using Google Analytics.

Dripbook wins Horizon Interactive Awards.

So some of you old-school people may remember Dripbook submitting an entry to the Horizon Interactive Awards. Well, we won.

Dripbook received Horizon's Gold award (their top prize) in the Self Promotion / Company Identity category.

Dripbook is up there with Nike Skateboarding and the "Official" Rolex Website. And Dripbook beat out some heavy hitting web sites made by some very well funded ad agencies.

So congratulations all around.

Export your books. Free for all.

This feature has been around for a while, but everyone might not know about it.

Dripbook allows all artists, Standard and Premium accounts alike, to export their books as "widgets" - small mini-players of your books. These widgets are Flash based so they're slick and nice looking. You can plug them into your blog, your pages on social networking sites like MySpace, and many other places.

Here's one feature of our widgets that is particularly cool - they always update themselves to the most current state of your books. If you export a widget and then add new images to a book, or change the order of images, your widget will automatically update to show your new changes.

So wherever you put them, Dripbook widgets will always show the most current and up-to-date version of your books.

Pretty rad.

Head to the Export tab (where Dripbook Sites is located) and select "Go to Widgets" in the upper left rectangle.

And while you're there, check out Dripbook Sites, Components, and Feeds - other tools for exporting your work from Dripbook.

Picture Magazine, now in it's sixth year, continues to deliver. Picture Magazine features Dripbook in it's recent May / June 08 issue. We couldn't have written a better review ourselves. This is sure to deliver a lot more attention and traffic to Dripbook.

In their biggest and baddest issue yet, Resource Magazine has a full page review of Dripbook in a five page feature comparing Dripbook to LiveBooks and Clickbooq - both Web portfolio creation sites. While Dripbook is in a different league than both - only Dripbook has created a cross-referenced, browsable catalog of it's artists' portfolios - it is nice to see Dripbook compared against some much heavier hittiers - LiveBooks has been around for ages.

Some notable quotes...

"That's right: Dripbook caters to more than just ... the photo industry. There are thirty-eight genres..."

"If you're flying into L.A. for a last minute shoot and are in dire need of a makup artist, you can find what you're looking for through Dripbook."

"A ... tool recently emerged from the Dripbook laboratory that allows users to export a personal web site from Dripbook to their own registered URL, effectively allowing you to create your own site without all the technical know-how you ain't got. An example can be found online at http://justinmuschong.com ."

Oh yeah. Dripbook costs a FRACTION of what either other site costs, and has features well above both.

Unfortunately, the Dripbook Sites project was just being created and unwrapped at the time this article went to press, so the author didn't get to test-drive our latest and most bad-ass feature. But it is nice to be reviewed next to other established, heavy hitting Web sites that do some, but not all, of what Dripbook does.

Enhanced Search Engine Optimization - another feature for Premium accounts.

We've added a simple but very effective feature for Premium accounts.

You can now enter Description and Keyword information that will be added to the HTML headers on your Dripbook portfolio pages as well as a Web site you export with Dripbook Sites.

This will help search engines like Google better find and better catalog your pages. More people will find your work, and that's what you're here for. You don't need to know anything about technology to use this feature. We've made it simple.

Head to the Settings tab in your Controls, and look for the Keywords + Description sub-tab. Enter your customized Description and Keywords and you're all set.

Your customized Description and Keywords will be automatically added to your Dripbook Splash Page and your portfolio book display pages on Dripbook.

Please note that you MUST re-export the index.html file of your Dripbook Site to include your customized Description and Keywords.

UPDATE - we're all out of stickers now. We didn't think you'd like them so much. We've mailed them to everyone who asked so far, even Lithuania and Australia. And we'll print some more and send you taller stacks.

Dripbook has grown six times over since we opened in October of last year. Dripbook now represents thousands of portfolios by artists from 55 countries in 25 genres. And Dripbook has managed to grow like this while keeping the quality of work high on account of our invitation-only status.

Let's keep it going. There's a lot more to cover.

So please help us grow larger while maintaining the high level of quality by sending invites to the best artists you know - illustrators, stylists, street artists, designers, hair and makeup artists, painters, photographers, and more. And there has been a lot of interest on Dripbook from art directors, ad agencies, magazines, and galleries. So keep them on your lists also.

Dripbook on the Horizon Awards.

Once again time to spit-shine Dripbook, this time for the judges from the Horizon Interactive Awards . Their portfolios came from the Library of Congress , the Farm Security Administration, and the Office of War Information Collection . That may be the first (and only) time we ever thank the government's war department.

And thanks again to the Internet Archive for providing the illustration material.

Anyway, beyond getting lost in the images, it's nice to welcome the Horizon awards judges to Dripbook.

Dripbook Sites - Letting the Cat out of the Bag.

Okay. Probably shouldn't do this. But it's been months in the works, and it's fun to do things you shouldn't do.

Dripbook is ever closer to finishing our Dripbook Sites project. The quick and dirty is that you'll be able to export a full personal web site from Dripbook with customizeable colors, fonts, arrangement, etc.

Coming soon....

All your books and images on Dripbook will be dynamically fed into your site. Every time you change Dripbook, your site will change. So, you'll be able to have a fully customizeable personal flash web site out of Dripbook.

And, it'll all be free with a Premium account. Which is 100% more free than all the other expensive services you all know of.

Should be finished soon. So get your portfolios ready.

Gawker Artists - finally, someone's doing the right thing.

Gawker.com - "Media, Gossip, and Pop Culture Round the Clock" got in touch with Dripbook to announce a great program - Gawker Artists .

Here's what they do. When they don't have an ad to fill a space, they fill it with artwork instead. The artwork in the ad block links to a profile about the artist and a link to the artist's web site and contact info.

According to Christopher Batty, VP of Sales at Gawker.com, "for a variety of reasons too boring to explain its a virtual impossibility to sell all our ad space at any given time. Most publishers sell off the "remnant" cheaply to ad networks that run direct marketing (that doesn't matter when or where even it goes). We thought that was kind of ghetto and not so cool to our brand sponsors that generously support us so this idea of giving it away to artists..."

I've visited Gawker countless times in the past few days, mostly to catch up on all my celebrity friends (who regularly complain that I don't stay in touch with them enough), and I feel like there's more artwork than ads. So I can testify that Gawker is running a lot of these "art blocks."

I have to hand it to Christopher Batty and Liz Dimmitt (of Gumshoe LLC ), the curator of Gawker Artists. It's an amazing concept. WAY more of this should exist.

You can signup to have your artwork featured here . You have to make 3 different specifically sized images of your artwork to fill the various standard ad block sizes. You can all add your Dripbook URL as a web site.

Have fun. Good to see that now and again the right thing happens.

New displays for the new year.

Well, we've been working on making good things better. Check around Dripbook - both the "Left Right Slider" and the "Thumbnails" display modes have been modified. Your images are larger, and the displays have been cleaned up.

But the biggest changes are with the "Thumbnails" display mode. We've added a pre-loader and nice transitions between images. So the viewer can page through your images more easily, and your work comes across more professionally and smoother. It's a big change, check it out.

Dripbook Studios are our blogs. We just like to call them Studios.

Central Studio (you're reading it now) is a venue for us to announce new features and to hear from you about you're experiences on Dripbook. Go ahead and let us know by commenting on posts. Comments = good.

The Fashion Studio and Graphic Design Studio are blogs about those industries and allow writers to post about industry news as well as to feature Dripbook artists who are producing interesting work within those industries. Essentially, news of the outside world and news of what's new and interesting in Dripbook meet here.

We'll we'd like to expand the Studios. Please let me know if you'd like to write for the following Studios:

Fashion Studio

Graphic Design Studio

Photography Studio (can we PLEASE have a decent photography blog that isn't a forum for announcing digital gadgets or rating pictures of leaves?)

Illustration Studio

Street Art Studio

Fine Art Studio

And feel free to suggest others. It's best if you have some blogging experience, but not totally necessary. Each Studio will have multiple authors, so no one needs to feel pressure to work all the time.

And these Studios are intended to expand to personal Studios (where you can announce events and new work, make blog posts, etc.) and private Studios for schools and the like. But be patient. We got lots of other features we're working on all at the same time.

Export your Dripbook portfolios to other sites.

It's our one month birthday. We grew a lot. Don't send a card - it's okay.

As a present, we've added a new Export tab in your Controls.

Here's what you'll find there:

1) Widgets :

You'll be able to export widgets like these (we currently have 3 styles to choose from) to export to your blogs, social networking sites like MySpace, etc.

Here's what's cool about our widgets: They're dynamic. They change when you change your portfolios on Dripbook. So, that means that if you put all kinds of widgets on all kinds of web sites and then you go and change your book (add images, change the order, change the name of the book, etc.), the widget automatically changes too.

In fact, that's the way all of our exporting works - it's all dynamic. You only have to change your portfolios once - in Dripbook. Saves you time for things like making art.

Here are some examples of our widgets:

2) Feeds :

Standard accounts have access to limited feeds, and Premium accounts have access to feeds of all of the data in your Dripbook portfolios. You can use these XML feeds to deliver information and images from your Dripbook portfolios into other applications like blogs, feed readers, or an entire external web site run from Dripbook.

3) Components :

Premium accounts can export their full Dripbook portfolios for use in other web sites.

Stamps, ink, and screenprinted cards.

I've been up to my neck in envelopes, stamps, and mailers.

We had these promotional cards hand screenprinted (over a thousand of them) by KayRock Screenprinting here in Brooklyn, and for some reason I determined that each and every card would be individually stamped with a unique Access Code.

Seemed like a good idea at the time, and then it took the better part of 10 days to pull off. I mailed them all over the world - to artists, magazines, galleries, press outlets, design shops, etc.

And I'm covered in ink. As well as my friends lucky enough to get suckered into helping me.

Well, at least people are liking them.

Here's something fun for you:

Dripbook is now open to the public. No more "Restricted Access" Pages.

However, Dripbook will remain closed to new accounts except by invitation. The good news is that all the users will be given the ability to invite other users.

Here's a nice early review of Dripbook from Shannon Nelson and the fine folks at Pierce Mattie Public Relations . It's especially appreciated since we're not even a client of theirs, even though I'd love to pretend otherwise. They're just really nice.

Good news. Uploading images to Dripbook just got much easier.

The creators of PictureSync worked with us to create a version of PictureSync just for Dripbook . There's far less setup with this new version - it comes out of the box ready to go. Except there's no box. You just download it. Sorry, kids, no box. But it's free to try and cheap to fully license.

Here's what's cool about PictureSync:

It lives on your computer (Mac only, for now, although there's a PC version in the works ) as a standalone application. You can drag virtually any image into the program (I've tried 500MB layered Photoshop files, PDFs, all sorts of things) and it does the rest. It flattens, converts, re-sizes, and uploads the images directly into your Dripbook account.

So, there's no need to make re-sized versions of your images for the web. There's no need to flatten or convert. Really, there's no need to even know what you're doing.

If you're a non-tech person with a bunch of CDs laying around on your desk and you're confused about what is on them, PictureSync is perfect. Same if your a total expert but don't like wasting time.

So have fun uploading everything you can find to Dripbook.
