I want to show you how i use Tweetdeck to both monitor and engage the terms, and the people, I interact with on Twitter. Tweetdeck is desktop software that interfaces with Twitter. It's a bridge between my computer and Twitter that allows me greater organization tools than you can find at the Twitter website.
Tweetdeck is orginized by columns, you set each column with a filter or a command. Up at the top is where you can post your tweets, but its the columns where the good stuff happens.
I typically keep three main columns active, one for all the people I follow, the next for the messages people post either to me or mention me, and on the third I monitor my company, typically just to see what my crew is posting to the blog and to ensure my posts are feeding as well. In addition to the three columns, similar to how I use Twitter's search function, in Tweetdeck I set a column to monitor a user or a keyword. In these additional columns I can chose to follow people, companies, and keywords that match my interests.
This is not an intense process, I casually keep Tweetdeck running in the background and every now and then check it out and see whats new. Its to give me a window into whats going on in my arena.
Please feel free to post your questions below, I'm happy to answer them. Until next time, thanks!
