Anna Katsanis has a lot of experience doing fashion styling for major fashion magazines. From Vogue to Marie Claire, to Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and Glamour, all of these major brands trust Anna for her stylistic eye and professional demeanor.
While all of her work is stunning, there were a few images she took of Zoe Saldana back in March 2018 that really caught our eye.
Anna first got the job to create these images for Glamour when she, and the photographer she often works with, pitched Zoe Saldana to the magazine. At the time, Zoe was promoting the new Avengers movie, so the images could be released during the month of the movie's release.
Ever wondered what it is like to do fashion styling for Glamour magazine?
According to Anna, it is an amazing experience. She told us, "They are absolutely wonderful and professional in every way possible." This is hardly surprising given Glamour's widespread brand recognition.
When we asked Anna what Zoe was like in person, she told us that she is lively, spirited, beautiful inside and out, and just a very nice person in general. Anna also told us that, compared to subjects she's worked with in the past, Zoe was incredibly open to whatever Anna wanted to do creatively.
This is not always the case with talent and their publicists. A lot of actors and musicians have restrictions on what they can wear, or what they want to wear, since they have a brand to portray to the public. That isn't to say that you always have to air on the side of caution, but you typically have to be aware and take it case by case with each person, since everybody is different. However Zoe is very easygoing, so that was not an issue.
In terms of the overall project, there was nothing especially unusual that stood out to Anna. She told us, "I go into every project the same with our concept/moodboard in hand and all of the wardrobe options presented to them, then I take them through the rack and we go through each option. We then try out our favorites and decide collectively on the final looks that fit the narrative."
There was however one challenge that presented itself to the project: the weather.
Right when Anna was super excited about the project, she almost didn't make it to the shoot! This is because there was a noreaster on the east coast that shut down JFK airport for 2 days. Luckily she had taken the 6am flight the day before, because after that, all the other flights were canceled. While she was able to get a flight just in time, she had a few friends stuck in LA for a few days because they couldn't get back to New York. Anna was really happy she was able to make it.
We're happy she was able to make it too, so she could create these incredible images. Anna has a lot of other great work in her Dripbook portfolios , so check them all out!
