When you look up in the night sky, those specks of light you see worked very hard to get to you. You are physically touching a star through its photons with your retina. Those photons were created perhaps even before our planet existed, in a gigantic nuclear furnace. After spending thousands of years churning inside they burst through the stellar surface to begin their journey through the universe. After billions of years dodging planets, black holes, nebulae, and other stars, they end their journey among the rods and cones of your eye.
Pretty special, huh?
That's what I capture.
I’m a fine art landscape and portrait astrophotographer that utilizes the inherent moodiness and high contrast that the night can add to an image while emphasizing the natural beauty of everything under the stars. I cater to those that appreciate natural imagery in a fine art setting but still want to explore what a photograph can be; fine art with a twist. I experiment heavily with timing, low-key lighting, moonlight, and subject to create images that simply can’t be captured during the day, and I do it without any destructive or additive post effects, all compositions are achieved in camera in order to retain an classic school of thought approach to image capture. I’ve been shooting for over a decade, shooting anything from headshots, fashion, live music, and events, but my true photographic passion are the stars above. Just remember the next time you’re gazing up in the night sky, and you see those lights above, that those lights hit a target the size of a thumbtack spinning at 1,040 miles per hour, and I hope they inspire you as much as they did me.
