Here are a collection of photo essays from Runner's World. RW stories primarily focus on real people with real lives (and real schedules) who are located all over the globe. Each year, the December issue would feature the "Heroes of Running" for which we would shoot each nominee in the most appropriate environment.
"A New York Minute" is an ambitious multi-platform story for which we stationed six photographers around the NYC Marathon course to shoot what was happening around them during pre-arranged intervals (which amounted to over 5000 images). This created a "photomentary" where we could show what was occurring at these different locations at the same time down to the specific minute. Online you could search images by location, time, and bib number (minute by minute) and have the experience of seeing the whole race.
