Maxine Nienow on Dripbook:
|
Maxine Nienow is a visual artist who uses animation, photography, video, painting and interactive installations to explore internal identity and its relationship with external culture.
Born in Mexico, Maxine studied painting in Paris, Cultural Studies in Cuba and UC Berkeley, ultimately earning her BFA at Parsons School of Design in New York. Her work has been seen all over North and South America as well as the Hermitage Museum in Russia. Maxine has exhibited at Art Basel Miami, The Armory in New York and recently co-founded FlutuArte, a floating gallery in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Maxine sees art as an opportunity to build community, blurring the lines between artist and observer, the explorer and the explored. Currently, Maxine has been collaborating with other artists by helping them examine the meaning of their work and building new works of art together, thereby creating relationships between works of art and artists.
