Matthew was raised in a small college town in Maine ("O-R-O-N-O"- for you NYT crossword puzzle fans), the son of two professors. Growing up in a university environment gave him ample opportunity to make mischief but with enough of an emphasis on education that he should have known better. When he's not making photographs for clients he enjoys searching for a hobby that does not cost as much as photography. Otherwise he might be found exploring his adopted city or looking for a decent vintage store. He currently lives in the Woodley Park neighborhood of DC with his wife, Betsy, who, aside from being unbelievably beautiful, is one of the smartest people who he has ever met.
He also has an irrational fear of sharks and suspects that he was eaten by one in a former life. He can only hope that the miserable fish choked.
