Most popular FAQs:
How are books and creatives sorted for display on Dripbook?Dripbook sorts all of the books and creatives on Dripbook using a complex custom algorithm . Our servers run this program muliple times every day. Dripbook consideres many factors in considering how each book and each creative is placed within every browse and search result. The computer that runs our sorting program unfortunately does not take requests. If you are interested in having your work presented closer to the top of search and browse results, our only advise is to make and present more work which others are actively viewing and to actively participate in the work of others. Here are some of the factors that our program considers when sorting books (in no specific order): modification date and time, number of comments, and number of viewers (each viewer is counted only once). Highly populated genres can be more competitive. Here are some of the factors that our program considers when sorting creatives (in no specific order): overall activity on Dripbook (including last login time, and number of comments left for others, among other factors), total number of books, as well as account type. Dripbook gives ultra enhanced priority to Premium accounts and enhanced priority to Pro accounts.

What is Dripbook's policy on imagery containing nudity or other mature / adult themes?Dripbook welcomes artwork considered by some to be "mature" or otherwise depicting graphic sexual themes, illicit drug use, or other material clearly inappropriate to young viewers. Books on Dripbook marked by you or other Dripbook users as "mature" will: 1) not be included on the homepages, in searches, or in areas on Dripbook accessible to the general public, and 2) viewers will need to confirm that they agree to view mature themes in order to proceed to view your work. If you are not sure, artwork or imagery that would reasonably be expected to be viewed in a public museum or traditional publication is not to be considered "mature." Reasonable nudity not of a sexually explicit nature is not necessarily considered "mature." Imagery like that you would expect to see in a magazine or museum show clearly restricted to adults should be considered "mature." We hope you understand our procedures necessary to follow common decency laws. We're doing this in order to allow you to post "mature" artwork. Our other option is to disallow it. Can I change my username? Many aspects of each account are dependent on the username - Dripbook organizes all of your images, books, comments, captions, payment information, and other content based on your username. Likewise, search engines like Google may have indexed your work on Dripbook based on your username. For these and other reasons, Dripbook does not allow members to change their usernames. How can I make search engines find and list my Dripbook portfolio?Dripbook allows Pro and Premium members to enter custom Description and Keyword information that will be added to the HTML headers of Dripbook portfolio pages and Web sites exported with the Dripbook Sites feature. This will help search engines like Google better find and better catalog your pages. More people will find your work, and that's what you're here for. You don't need to know anything about technology to use this feature. We've made it simple. Head to your Controls > Settings > Keywords + Description (in the Quick Nav menu, select Settings under my Controls. Then select the Keywords + Description sub-tab). Enter your customized Description and Keywords and you're all set. Your customized Description and Keywords will be automatically added to your Dripbook Splash Page and your portfolio book display pages on Dripbook as well as an exported Dripbook Site. For some helpful information on how to best format and enter your Description and Keywords for Search Engine Optimization, look here, here, and here . If you have already exported your Web site using the Dripbook Sites feature, you will have to re-export your "index.html" file for the Description and Keyword information to be included. If you have not yet exported your Dripbook Site, this Description and Keyword information will automatically be included when you export your Dripbook Site. This Search Engine Optimization is a feature reserved only for Pro and Premium accounts. Upgrade here. What is Google Tracking? How do I use it?Google Tracking is a feature for Premium accounts that allows you to track your visitors to your public pages on Dripbook and to your exported Dripbook Site. To use the feature, first set up a free account with Google Analytics if you don't already have one. Next, please see Google's FAQ "Where can I find my tracking code?" for assistance obtaining your Tracking Code. Your Google Tracking Code should resemble this format - UA-XXXXXX-X. Head to your Controls > Settings > Google Tracking (in the Quick Nav menu, select Settings under my Controls. Then select the Google Tracking sub-tab). Enter your Google Tracking Code in the text field. If you have already exported a Web site with Dripbook Sites and you wish to track your exported Dripbook Site as well, you will need to enter your Google Tracking Code in your Dripbook Sites configuration pages as well and re-export your "index.html" file. If you have not yet exported or configured a Dripbook Site, your Google Tracking code should be saved in your Dripbook Sites configuration pages. It's a good idea to double check. How do I update or change my credit card information? It is very important that you keep your credit card information up-to-date. If you default on payments for any reason, including address changes, expiration date changes, address changes or any other reason, Dripbook may put your account on hold and / or forcibly downgrade your account. To update your credit card information, head to Billing in the Quick Nav menu, or head here. Can I downgrade my account? You are free to downgrade your account at any time (from Premium to Plus or Standard or from Plus to Standard). Please keep two things in mind. 1) Dripbook does not offer refunds for unused time within each payment period / billing cycle. Therefore, it's best to change your account type at the end of your current payment period / billing cycle. 2) In order to downgrade your account, you must first reduce the number of images, books, and genres you have in your account to fit into the requirements of the account you would like to downgrade to. For example, if you currently have a Premium account and you would like to downgrade to a Standard account, and you currently have 700 images stored in your account, you will have to remove 500 or more images so that you have less than the maximum number of images allowed in a Standard account. The same applies for books and genres. Please contact us after you have checked that you have reduced the images, books, and genres to fit into the requirements of the level you'd like to downgrade to. We'll take care of the downgrade. How do I cancel my account?Dripbook does not like to see anyone leave. But goodbyes are part of life. To cancel your account on Dripbook, head to your Controls > Settings > Cancel Account. Please keep in mind that all of your images, books, and content will be permanently deleted. Please consider contacing us with your reasons for canceling your account. We're always interested in improving our service. What image formats does Dripbook accept? What size should images be?Dripbook accepts most standard image formats - JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), GIF (.gif), PNG (.png), TIFF (.tif, .tiff), PHOTOSHOP (.psd), BMP (.bmp), and PPM (.ppm) - so it is okay if you have a mixed bag of media. And PictureSync supports all of those and PDF (.pdf) files as well. As far as size goes, Dripbook prefers images around 1,500 pixels on the longest side. At a minimum, we need images at least 500 pixels high. The maximum size of an image you can upload to Dripbook is 10 MegaBytes. Are my images on Dripbook safe? What is Dripbook's policy on image protection?Dripbook takes image protection and copyright infringement very seriously. Dripbook does actively disable some right-click to download functions of images displayed on the Dripbook Web site. However, these disabling tools do not work in all instances and in all browsers. Additionally, your account, and all original versions of imagery uploaded to your account, is securely stored on Dripbook's servers. There is no reason to believe that viewers of the Dripbook Web site have any access to your originally uploaded images. There is no secure method of preventing publicly displayed images from being downloaded / saved from any public Web site. While Flash-based Web sites (like those exported using the Dripbook Sites feature) have no right-click to download ability, viewers can easily take a screen shot of a page, and advanced users can copy images from browser caches. Please understand that one of the inherent risks of putting your imagery online is that there could be an occasional instance of a viewer keeping a copy of your visual material. While considering this risk, keep the following in mind:
1) All of your written and visual material is protected by U.S. Copyright Law if applicable - reuse / republication of your material without your permission is strictly forbidden by law.
How can I upload multiple images at once? There are two easy ways to upload a collection of images all at once.
Method 1 - Use PictureSync. We really like PictureSync. We've worked with the developer of PictureSync to produce a version specifically made for Dripbook. Currently PictureSync only runs on a Mac. PictureSync is a desktop utility that allows you to drag-and-drop images of nearly any sort and size from your desktop into the PictureSync application. It converts, resizes, and uploads them directly into your Dripbook account. Take a look at the FAQ instructions for using PictureSync with Dripbook
here
.
Method 2 - Create and upload a Zip archive. Zip archives are collections of multiple images. You can take an entire folder or several image files (or combinations of both) and combine them all together. Then, you can upload the Zip archive all at once using the Organize > Upload Tab. As long as each image in the collection is under 10 MegaBytes, you're all set (don't worry, your Zip archive itself can be over 10 MegaBytes, but the individual images inside must be under 10 MegaBytes each). For information on how to make a Zip archive on a Mac, look here. For information on how to create a Zip archive on a PC, you can use WinZip , and Windows XP allows the creation of Zip archives from the desktop. To upload a Zip archive, follow the normal uploading method using Dripbook's Organize > Upload tab. Instead of selecting a single image, select a Zip archive to upload. You can even designate a specific book to upload the images into.

What is PictureSync and how do I use it to upload images?PictureSync is a program for Mac computers that makes uploading images to Dripbook much, much easier. We strongly recommend PictureSync for all users of Dripbook who have a Mac. The main advantage of PictureSync is that it automatically converts your images from many different types of formats, resizes them, and uploads them directly into your Dripbook account. You won't need to re-save a flattened or smaller version of your images - you can drop your full size, layered image files into PitureSync. All you have to do is drag and drop your images (as many at a time as you would like) from your computer into the PictureSync application and it does the rest. Leaves you more time to do what you're better at. Oh yeah—its free! The paid version (we encourage you all to pay for it if you use it heavily) is really cheap. Here's a set of instructions for how to get ahold of PictureSync and configure it on your Mac (no Windows, yet): 1) Download the Dripbook specific version of PictureSync here . For more information, and to fully license PictureSync, head here . 2) A disk image will be downloaded to your desktop (or your download folder). Double click on the 'PictureSync_com.dripbook.dmg'. Copy the PictureSync application to your Applications folder.
3) When you see the 'Welcome to PictureSync' window, click the button that says 'Setup'.
4) In the next window, enter the following information:
5 Start dragging images you'd like to upload to your Dripbook account into the PictureSync window. PictureSync supports the same images as Apple's Preview program does - for a list of them, look here . It is important that you upload images that are large enough. PictureSync will automatically downsize any images that are too large, so go ahead and give PictureSync the largest version you have. At a minimum, images must be 500 pixels high. If your images are smaller than this, please go look and find a larger version of the image - don't just upsize them in an program like Photoshop.
6) If you'd like, you can enter information in the 'Title,' 'Caption,' and 'Keyword' fields - this information will be uploaded to Dripbook along with the image. The 'Title' information is purely for you - to help you remember which image is which. The 'Caption' information will become the caption information for the image in your Dripbook portfolio - the public will see this. So, if you'd like, give the image a caption or any descriptive info you'd like. The 'Keyword' information is also purely for you. You can use this later to help search for this image in the Dripbook Organize tool, which might be helpful if you soon end up with tons of images in your Dripbook account. You can enter this information separately for each image.
7) When you're ready to upload your images into Dripbook, click the 'Upload' button in the upper right of the PictureSync window. You will then be prompted to select a destination for the images - you can direct images into either your general Image Pool or into a specific book you've already created. Pretty crafty. Click 'Continue' when you're ready.
8) PictureSync will convert and upload your images.
9) PictureSync's done and you can log into your Dripbook account, go to the Organize section, and begin sorting the images you just uploaded. If you uploaded your images into a specific book, open that book to find the images you just uploaded. If you uploaded your images into your general image archive, you'll see them there.
I've made a book but it doesn't appear on my portfolio. How do I publish a book? When you first create a book, the book's status is In-Progress - this means that you're working on it. Once you are ready, you can change the status of the book to Public so that everyone can see it. There are a few ways to make a book public. Here's how: You can make a book public in the Sort Books + Publish tab of the Organize section - it's the last tab to the right. Drag a blue book from the In Progress section below to the Public section above. Click the Publish button on the right, and viola, that book is public. You'll see a summary of how many books are In-Progress, Public, and Private to the right below the Publish button.
You can also make a book public while sorting the order of the images in the book and editing the properties of the book. In the Sort Images in Books tab of the Organize section, in the left hand column containing the book's properties, change the status of the book to Public. When you save your changes, the book will be public. That's easy.
What is a key image and how do I make one for my books?A Key image is an image in each book that visually represents the book. You'll see the Key image in the Organize section and it will help remind you which book is which. And the public will see the Key image when they browse your books across Dripbook. There are no special requirements for a Key image - it's all up to you. Here's how to make a Key image: In the Sort Images in Books tab of the Organize section, drag any image over the image icon in the upper right hand corner next to the book's name until the icon of the image you're dragging reads "Make Key Image." Let go and you're done. When you save your changes to the book, the newly assigned Key image will be visible.
Also, when you're adding images to a book, you can both add an image and set that image as the Key image all at once. In the Add Images to Books tab of the Organize section, while dragging images from your image archive on the right into books on the left, bring the image you'd like to set as the Key image over the image icon next to the book's name. You've then added that image to the book and set it as the Key image all at once.
How can I control which image appears on my opening Splash page? All artist's accounts on Dripbook come with a customizable Splash page. Your Splash page is the gateway into your Dripbook site. Your Splash page is always accessible at http://www.dripbook.com/YourUserName. And if you have an exported Dripbook Site, your Splash page on Dripbook is also exported to your Dripbook Site. Here's how you can specify the image(s) you'd like to appear on your Splash page. 1) In the Organize section, use the "Open" function under an image that you would like to select as your Splash page image.
2) Click the box that says "Make this your Splash Page image?" Make sure you click Save + Close to save your changes.
If you select more than one Splash page image, the images will randomly appear on your Splash page. You'll be able to see which images you currently have selected on the Organize section's Overview Tab. On your Splash page on Dripbook, vertical images are aligned to the right, and horizontal images are centered. On exported Dripbook Sites, all Splash page images are centered. If you would like to make a "full screen" Splash Page image, upload an image that is 920 pixels wide and 475 pixels high and select that image as your Splash page image. How can I delete images? To delete images, drag them to the bottom of the screen in the Add Images to Books tab of the Organize section. Hold the Shift key to select multiple images.
When you are editing a book in the Sort Images in Books tab, you can either delete images completely or just delete them from the book. Hold the Shift key to select multiple images.
How can I delete books? To delete books, look to the bottom right of the screen while editing the book in the Sort Images in Books tab of the Organize section. There's a "Delete this Book" action towards the bottom of the book's preferences.
You can also delete books from the Sort Books + Publish tab. Look for the handy trash can icon.
Don't worry, deleting books does NOT delete the images inside the books. How can I have more than one genre? How to I change the genres of my books?Standard accounts on Dripbook are granted two genres. Pro and Premium accounts are granted three genres. Assigning the correct genre to each book will improve how your books are cataloged, presented, and found on Dripbook. You can also add custom names to genres. Here's how to set up your Dripbook account with multiple genres. 1) Head to your Controls > Settings > Genres. Add genre(s) with the drop-down menu selections, and add custom name(s). If you're adding or removing genre(s), take special note of how the system will re-assign books.
2) In the Organize section, head to the Sort Books + Publish tab to rearrange your books and genres. It's all drag-and-drop. Drag your books and genres to arrange them as you'd like. Then hit "Publish" and you're all set.
3) When you make new books, or edit books you already have, you'll be able to specify which Genre each book is associated with.

Here's how: 1) Upload the visuals (if you haven't already) just like you would normally. 2) Create a new book. Or edit a book you've already made. Edit the preferences of the book just like you would normally. Set the Status of the book to Private and click Save.

3) Once you have the Private book ready, head to your Controls > Promote > Announce a Private Book. (In the Quick Nave menu, select Promote under My Controls. Then look for the Announce a Private Book sub-tab.) Select the Private Book you'd like to send, add email addresses, and an optional personal message. You can even include a password if you'd like to be extra cautious. Additionally, you can choose whether to be notified when each recipient first views the book. Click the Send Private Book button and you're all set. How can I receive comments on a private book? You can receive comments on your private book from each recipient you send the book to. You can review the comments you've received in two ways. 1) Head to your Controls > Comments > Private Book Comments. (In the Quick Nav menu, select Comments under My Controls. Then select the Private Book Comments sub-tab.)

How do I upload / FTP my exported personal Website from Dripbook to my server? In order for Dripbook Sties to work, you have to get a small file from Dripbook to your Web host or Web server. You could also get a friend with "FTP" software to help you upload the file.
With either option, you will need to know the following information:
This information can easily be be provided by your Web hosting company. It most likely was already sent to you in an email. If you have any questions, contact your Web hosting company and ask them for this information. These are very standard and normal things to ask for, so don't worry. Related FAQs:
What are the "Best Practices" for formatting video?Because there are so many different video editing programs and so many different camera formats out there, it's not possible to recommend settings for every situation. However, Dripbook is set up to accept, convert, optimize, and display just about every video format out there. It's best to upload originals that look good - the better it looks full-screen on your computer, the better it will look on Dripbook. We can't improve the quality of your video. So don't upload traditionally "Web-optimized" or otherwise very small or highly compressed video. It just won't look good. Remember, HD stands for High Definition. So, if possible, upload a great quality version of your video. That being said, you don't want to be uploading titanic files to our server, as they may time-out, and it's irritating for you to have your internet bogged down for ages. There's a great middle ground between quality and file size for optimal upload to Dripbook. Here are some "Best Practices" we suggest reviewing before exporting, compressing, and uploading video: • Compression: The ideal compression codec (think compression formula) is H.264 - if that's an option, use it. • Frame rate: Keep your frame rate "current" - we'll work with 30 frames per second, or 25, or 24. Stick with what you have. • Resolution: If possible, keep your resolution at the original output of the camera, or downsize to 720 pixels high if necessary. But it's not necessary or recommended to downsize the resolution lower than 720 pixels high. • Data rate: For HD footage, target somewhere around 10,000 kbit/sec. DV and Standard Definition video should remain around 5,000 kbit/sec. • Deinterlacing: Do it. It keeps footage from looking jaggy. Even if you shoot with a non-interlacing progressive camera, some video editing software can generate interlaced video. So de-interlace it if possible. • Audio: AAC audio is best, or keep it at your "current" setting. A fantastic general purpose video converter that we recommend is MPEG Streamclip. You can download it here .One option for video compresison is to export from whatever editing suite you are using (Final Cut, After Effects, Premier, etc.) a very high quality "master" version, then compress it with MPEG Streamclip. This workflow works well for us. We've attached below a screenshot of settings in MPEG Streamclip that we find ideal for compressing a great video ready to upload to Dripbook. Not all of these settings may match yours, but see the list of "Best Practices" above for guidance. Feel free to contact us with any questions about video (or anything else) (except relationship advice).
How can I change the "Key" or thumbnail image of a video book?Dripbook's video processor will automatically select a frame from each video you upload to serve as that video's "Key" image. The "Key" image serves as the representative image for each book. If you're not happy with the image that the video processor selected, you're free to change it. You can select another frame from the video in your editing software, upload the image to Dripbook, and add the image as a "Key Image" for the video book. **Please note - you cannot add images to video books - only one video may be contained in a book, and no images can be displayed within a video book. When you set an image as the "Key Image" for a video book, be very careful to mouse over ONLY the "Make Key Image" area of the video book.

How can Dripbook auto-update my Twitter account?Dripbook has a new way to automatically alert your Twitter feed (and all those following you on Twitter) when you make updates on Dripbook. This is another great way to improve your exposure and to keep others up-to-date on your new work. Here's how it works (it's super simple): 1) Consider following Dripbook on Twitter . You don't have to, but it's a great way to stay in touch.
