Vlad Voloshin, a New York photographer, was born in Moscow and immigrated to the US in 1991. After attending Nursing school in Moscow, working various hospital jobs as a pre-med student in Louisville, KY, Vlad made a life-changing move by enrolling into the MA program in art history at the University of Pittsburgh.
Once immersed into the imagery and theory of visual art, it was easy to transition into photography- especially after graduation in 2000. Having grown up with persistent influence of communist propaganda posters and heroic imagery from the 1940s (WWII) it is not surprising that those images became his primary artistic inspirations. In his work, the favorite subjects of inquiry are people, myth and magic.
